33nd Anniversary

Bertha Frank Teague

Mid-America Classic Basketball Tournament

December 28, 29, 30, 2009

The Bertha Frank Teague Mid-America Classic Girls’ high school basketball tournament is on solid footing as it continues to be one of the most prestigious and well-attended prep events of the entire Oklahoma athletic schedule each and every year.

It takes a lot of work for the tournament to maintain its high level of competition, including a large commitment from the Ada community, most notably the valued collaboration with the tourney’s major corporate sponsor, Vision Bank.

A large portion of the credit for the actual day to day aspects of hosting the tournament goes to a group of community leaders who sit on the event’s Board of Directors.

Encouraged by honorary member and original incorporator of the Classic, Omega Johnson, then Board President Allen Butler put together a group of 11 hard-working and like-minded basketball fans in the winter of 2001 to restart the tournament after a one-year hiatus.  The 25th rendition of the event in December of 2001 proved to the board and all area basketball fans that the Classic was still just that, a classic.

The current Bertha Frank Teague Mid-America Classic Board of Directors are President Bruce Plunk, Vice-President Mark Babcock, Secretary Shawna Jackson, Treasurer Steve Timmons and Directors Allen Butler, Jeff Cali, Terry Painter, Tommy Vass, Bruce Huddleston, Lynn Lofton, Shawna Senkel, Carla Harris and Charlie Burnett.
